【摘要】:Thismethoddoesnotrequireanoverallrigidstandardizationoftheapparatus.Samplesaretestedeitherunconfinedorconfinedinconfinementcups.Forconfinedtests,someoftheimportantcupparameters,suchascupmaterial,cupwallthickness,andfitbetweenthecupandthestrikingpin,arestandardized.Datageneratedfromunconfinedandconfinedtestswillnot,ingeneral,exhibitthesamerelativescaleofsensitivities,andmustbeidentifiedasconfinedorunconfineddataandcomparedseparately.Thismethodappliestoalltestingwheretheintentistoestablisharelativesensitivityscaleforhazardousmaterials.Itisnotintendedtoprohibittestingprocess-thicknesssamplesnorprohibittheuseofotherthanstandardtoolmassesandstrikingdiameterstogeneratedataforspecialpurposesorforin-housecomparisons.Inaddition,themethodisnotintendedtorestrictthegenerationofresultsatotherthantheH50pointasmaybedesirableforhazardanalysistechniques.Thenormalizeddatawillserveasameasureoftherelativesensitivitiesofhazardousmaterialsatthe50%probabilityofreactionlevel.ThenormalizedH50valuescanalsobeusedinconjunctionwithadditionaldatarelatingtootherprobabilityofreactionlevels(notapartofthismethod)toassesshazardsassociatedwiththemanufacture,transportation,storage,anduseofhazardousmaterials.1.1Thistestmethod,isdesignedtodeterminetherelativesensitivitiesofsolid-phasehazardousmaterialstodropweightimpactstimulus.Forliquid-phasematerialsrefertoMethodD2540.Thisstandardmayinvolvehazardousmaterials,operations,andequipment.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyproblemsassociatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityofwhoeverusesthisstandardtoconsultandestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
