【摘要】:Thispracticeprovidesacalculationmethodfordeterminingthenumberofconstrictionsmofanon-wovengeotextile(orofalayerofacompositematerial).Thisstandardisnotapplicabletowovengeotextiles,knittedgeotextiles,heat-bondedgeotextilesoranyothertypeofgeosynthetic.Thenumberofconstrictionrepresentsthenumberofx201C;windowsx201D;delimitedbythreeormorefibers,inwhichsoilparticlescouldmigrate.Inthatregard,itcanbebasicallydefinedbythefollowingequation:wheretisthethicknessanddctheaveragedistancebetweentwoconstrictions.Thisvaluehasbeenfoundtoberelevanttoexplainthedifferentfiltrationbehaviorsofnon-wovengeotextileswithsimilaropeningsizesbutdifferentstructuresforvarioussoilconditions(seeAppendixX1fordetails).Thisvaluewillbeusedinfiltrationresearchtoevaluatethepredictionoffiltrationefficiencyandeffectivenessofvariousnon-wovengeotextileswithsimilaropeningsizes(TestMethodD6767).Interpretationofthesignificanceofmascalculatedusingthisstandardshallbedonewithcareassomenon-wovenstructuresmaynotreflectthehypothesisusedtoestablishtheproposedequation(seeAppendixX1fordetails).1.1Thispracticedescribestheprocedureusedalongwithexistingtestmethodtodeterminethenumberofconstrictionsmofmechanicallybondednon-wovengeotextiles,basedonthickness,massperunitareaandfiberproperties1.2Thenumberofconstrictionsisapropertyofnon-wovengeotextiles,whichiscomplementarytoopeningsizetopredicttheirfiltrationbehavior.Itcanbeusedtodifferentiatenon-wovengeotextileswithsimilaropeningsizesbutdifferentstructures(thickness,weight,fiberdiameter,etc.).However,moreresearchisneededtoassessitssignificancewhencomparingtwoproductswithdifferentopeningsizes.1.3Considerationofthenumberofconstrictionisrelevantinfiltrationapplicationswherepipingorcloggingconcernsaretobecontrolledwithahighlevelofconfidence,thatis,forfiltersapplicationsincriticalsoils.1.4Thisstandardisfordesignpurposesonlyandisnotintendedforqualitycontrolpurposes.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
