【摘要】:Thispracticeisusedtopreparerockspecimensfordurabilitytestingandtoevaluateanyinternaldefects,suchascracks,thatmaynotbeapparentonthesurfacesofbrokenblocksofrock.SuchevaluationcanalsoaidintheselectionandlocationofslabsfortestingasoutlinedinPracticeD4992.Insomecases,theneedforfurthertestingorevaluationmaybeeliminated.Thesawingofrocksampleswillreducethemtoasuitablespecimensizeandquantityfortestingand,inmanycases,preservethenaturalstructureoftheinternaldefectssothesamplescanbeevaluatedbythevariousdurabilitytests.Durabilitytestsspecimensshouldbe64x00B1;6mm(2.5x00B1;0.25in)thicknormaltobeddingoranypotentialplanesofweaknesswhichmaybeobservedinthesamples.Innocasewillthesizeoftheslabbelessthan125mm(5in.)onaside,excludingthethicknessIdeally,atestspecimensizeequaltotheproposeddesignsizewouldprovidetheultimateincorrelationbetweenlaboratorytestsandactualfieldperformance.However,inmostcases,thisisneitherpracticalnoreconomicallyfeasible.1.1Thispracticecoversthepreparationofrockslabsforvarioustestsandanyvisualinspectionsusedtoevaluatethedurabilityofrockforerosioncontrol.Thesetestsinclude,butarenotlimitedto,TestMethodsD5240,D5312,andD5313.1.2Units8212;ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoinch-poundunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.3AllobservedandmeasuredvaluesshallconformtotheguidelinesforsignificantdigitsandroundingestablishedinPracticeD6026.1.4Thispracticeoffersasetofinstructionsforperformingoneormorespecificoperations.Thisdocumentcannotreplaceeducationorexperienceandshouldbeusedinconjunctionwithprofessionaljudgment.Notallaspectsofthispracticemaybeapplicableinallcircumstances.ThisASTMstandardisnotintendedtorepresentorreplacethestandardofcarebywhichtheadequacyofagivenprofessionalservicemustbejudged,norshouldthisdocumentbeappliedwithoutconsiderationofaproject''smanyuniqueaspects.Thewordx201C;Standardx201D;inthetitleofthisdocumentmeansonlythatthedocumenthasbeenapprovedthroughtheASTMconsensusprocess.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcernsassociatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Foraspecifichazardsstatement,seeSection7.
